Skagen is the town between the two seas at the northern part of Denmark. Only 1.500 meters separate Kattegat and Skagerak. Close to the 15th latitude Skagen is on level with Fraserburgh in Scotland, Harris at the Hebrides and centre line through Hudson Bay in Canada.
The sea was the connection to the outside world. Fishing was then, as now, the main industry. Many firms connected to the fishing industry were established in the 19th century and grew from a modest start to an international position. Iver ChristensensVaadbinderi or IC Trawl, as it was also called, was one of them.
Skagen is not only known for fishing. Because of the beautiful nature and special light, Skagen attracted painters and artists at the start of the 1870s. Surrounded by beautiful nature and harsh wind conditions the artist settled down in the heart of Skagen. Here they found inspiration in each other, the nature and in the fishermen’s rough and dangerous life. The colony was visited by painters, musicians, composers, poets and writers.

About IC Skagen
The company IC Skagen was established in Skagen in 2006 by my father Jørgen Christensen. The name IC Skagen is a rewriting of the name IC Trawl. IC Trawl was established in 1879 and was one of the first companies in Denmark to produce fishing gear. My father was the 3rd generation owner of IC Trawl. In 1991 my father parted ways with Cosmos Trawl and started a new career within the fishing industry. In the early 2000 he established IC Skagen. Export of shrimps and crayfish tails in brine were the primary products. This is still the core business today.
In 2017, the company was taken over by his son Dennis Christensen. Today IC Skagen is specialized in acting as a sales agent for seafood companies who want to grow their B2B sales to the foodservice and catering industry.
For the B2B customer they have an advantage of sourcing various seafood products by using the knowledge and experience of IC Skagen.
By having a strong focus on seafood and especially shellfish products, it is possible to present a turnover of more than 40 mio DKK to the companies who are using IC Skagen as a sales agent. Strong presence and high level of service has proved to be a key for growth in a very competitive market.
